Most people land on this site with one problem. Pick yours and read these posts in order. Each list takes about an hour and covers what I'd tell a friend over coffee.

I'm looking for my first job here

You've arrived, or you're about to, and the applications aren't landing.

  1. 700 applications, one offer: what actually moved the needle
  2. Rewriting a Sri Lankan resume for Australian recruiters
  3. The cover letter template I used for every interview I got
  4. Why "local experience" kept coming up, and how I got around it

I want to get healthier without burning out

Work takes most of the week. Here's how I fit training around it.

  1. Training for my first half marathon on a 9-to-5
  2. From 5k to 12k: the plan I followed
  3. What indoor climbing taught me about failing

I'm trying to understand skilled visas

The official pages are accurate but hard to follow. Start with the basics.

  1. Skilled visas in plain English: the parts nobody explains
  2. How the points test works
  3. Skills assessments: what to start first

Who's writing this

I'm a software engineer in Adelaide. I came from Sri Lanka, where I was a senior engineer, and I had to start again from zero here. Three Australian employers later, I'm writing down what I learned so you can skip some of the hard parts.
